Undelete, recover and repair corrupted Access databases in just a few clicks. DiskInternals Access Recovery repairs corrupted Access databases, and undeletes or recovers Access 2000-2007 .mdb and .accdb database files from damaged disks
Pros: This application repairs the Access databases of the type MDB and ACCDB from damaged disks. This is compatible with Access 2000 to 2007. Why this is expected to be more successful than many others is because of its repair strategy. It attempts not only to fixing headers or repairing damaged structures it reconstructs the entire structure of the database by splitting the database record by record, and assembling the records back into a working database. All records are carefully recovered, including table data and queries. In this process it recreates another new database record by record rather than trying to reconstruct the original one. This same program has the tools to recover databases from MS Money too, the .MNY database files. The recovery facility comes with features to undelete files too. Quite often one deletes files by mistake and then it is hard work to recover such deleted files. This application has a “uneraser” engine that can recover the erased database.
The PowerSearch engine that forms the core of the process is apparently capable of thoroughly scanning the surface of the hard drive to locate and recover all MS Access databases on the disk. This works quite well apparently, even if the disk is damaged or has been reformatted. Should the file system be corrupted, the application is still able to recover the data effectively.
Cons: It is practically impossible to be able to recover 100% of the data corruptions. Thus one ought to try out the program in specific situations. Besides, there’s always a possibility of a situation where recovery effectiveness would be very low.
Overall: Application with a nice and simple interface. This is rated at 4 stars.
